A Field Guide is a book about a particular species. It shows many facts about the species and includes pictures of each type of species. There are some examples of field guides in the links provided.

Our class is going to create an online butterfly field guide. You will be assigned a butterfly species to research. Each person will need to find the following information for their butterfly.

1. What is the scientific name of your butterfly?
2. What is the wing span?
3. Where in the United States will you find this butterfly?
4. What is the butterfly's diet?
5. Find one interesting fact about your butterfly. Explain why you chose this fact (2-3 sentences).
6. Find an image of your butterfly that is clear and that shows the wings that are laying open.

At the end of your research you will need to make a wiki displaying the information you found about your butterfly. Please click on Page 2 of this worksheet when you are finished with your research to learn more about how to create your own wiki page. There is a link to our wiki page on this worksheet.
