Behavior

We have four basic rules, which are straightforward and easy to follow. I expect the children to do their best to follow the rules. The rules are:
1. I will keep my hands, feet, and objects to myself.
2. I will follow directions and complete all assignments.
3. I will show respect for myself and others.
4. My voice and movement around the room will be appropriate to the activity.

• When your child does follow the rules-
He/she may receive a sticker, extra recess time, extra center time, or a note to the parent.
• When your child does not follow the rules-
First, he/she will receive a warning.
Next, he/she will conference with the teacher.
Then, he/she will receive reflection time in the classroom.
Finally, he/she will take a note home or parents will be called.

Visual Classroom Display
I use a color system to help the students see their behavior. There are 5 colors in the child’s pocket chart.
Green: All is well- smooth sailing. Keep on traveling the way you are.
Yellow: Warning- You need to be careful and watch your behavior. Slow down and think about what you are doing.
Red: Stop- behavior needs to change.
Orange: Reflection time- You need to stop and think about what you are doing and change the behavior.
Blue: Behaviors have gone too far! Parent contact will be made by a note or phone call home.

In your child’s Monday folder, there will be a behavior sheet that you will review and sign weekly.
