Because you need the knowledge, skills, and dispositions outlined in the InTASC standards, it is imperative that you gain a clear understanding of them. To help you cultivate such an understanding, the Council of Chief State School Officers has published a lengthy document entitled "InTASC Model Core Teaching Standards and Learning Progressions" (link provided below). Although a thorough reading would prove too time consuming, it would be immensely helpful to read the summary on pages 8-9 and to skim the single-page descriptions on the following pages: 16-17, 21, 24, 27, 30, 34, 38, 41, and 45. These standards are valuable because they can promote self-reflection by helping you to identify your strengths and weaknesses, and the learning progressions that accompany the standards offer suggestions for facilitating improvement. |
