ON THE ROAD Tips for travelling

In the future you might need to travel to an English speaking country if you want to become fluent in this language. 1.- Click on this link provided by the British Council, listen to 5 different conversations and check your understanding doing the exercises provided on the same page. 2.- Do you know what the Underground is? They call it Subway in America. In London it is called "The Tube". Click on the second link to find out some information about the Tube. When you are ready, click on the third link and do the crossword. 3.- Click on the following link and download the London Underground Map. Take a look at it and try to find out how it works before we do an oral activity in the classroom. Warm up: Check the map and answer the following questions? a) You are staying in a hotel called Premier Inn which is located in London Blackfriars. You want to visit Covent Garden, what line or lines would you take? In which direction? b) You have heard Harrods is a very famous Department Store and you would like to go shopping there. Find out where it is and tell me how to get there from your hotel, using the Tube. c) Today is your last day in London and you don't want to leave without visiting Buckingham Palace.First locate the palace in a map to see which are the closest underground stations and then find your way to the palace from the hotel. |
