ANOINTING OF THE SICK

“Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters, and they should pray over him and anoint (him) with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven.” James 5:14-15 The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a wonderful, touching, intimate, mysterious encounter with the risen Christ. Seek it early in any serious or chronic illness or life crisis where there is a need for healing in mind, body or spirit. This Sacrament is for the living. The Church does not permit the Anointing to be given to anyone who has already died.

INDIVIDUAL: The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available to individuals when needed. Please contact one of the priests or the Pastoral Care Office with your request. In addition, the priests administer this Sacrament at nursing homes, senior complexes and to the homebound on a rotating schedule.

COMMUNAL: The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is celebrated during a Mass 4 times a year.
