Guidelines for 3 Minute Presentation

 
Follow these guidelines for your presentations

 

3 Minute Presentation Rubric
To be prepared and presented once each quarter.

Each student will prepare and present one 3 minute classroom presentation on relevant topic of choice, with prior approval from Mrs. Williams. The topic could be from the bios section of our binders, or the suggestions list.

Options: - speech with or without notecards;
- memorized re-enactment of historically important speech or event (example: Patrick Henry’s “give me liberty or give me death” speech; poem, Midnight Ride of Paul Revere) This option should include introductory commentary establishing context.
- biography of relevant historical character
- summary of historical event/battle/situation

Each presentation is worth a maximum of sixty (60) points. Each of the following six areas will be considered in awarding points. Please consider each when working on your presentation. In each area, a maximum of ten (10) points can be given.

Content: Was chosen topic historically relevant?

Was the choice of topic unusual, interesting, or enticing to the listener?

Organization: Was there an organized flow of information?

Creativity: Was the material presented in an interesting, creative manner?

Material: Was there use of props, pictures, maps, costumes, notes or other additions to the material? Did the presenter show familiarity with the subject?

Speaking Skills: Was the presenter poised, with proper volume? Was articulation clear? Was there good eye contact with the audience?

Length of Presentation: Was the presentation within/near 3 minute allotment?
