Compound Sentences

Twice as much fun as a simple sentence!

A compound sentence contains two sentences joined by and, or, or but. These words are called conjunctions. Compound sentences express more than one complete thought. For example:
" Mr. Macdonald enjoys reading."

(One complete thought, right?)

+
Mr. Macdonald's favorite author is Gary Paulsen.

(Another complete thought, right?)

=

Mr. Macdonald enjoys reading, and his favorite author is Gary Paulsen.

(Two complete thoughts joined by the word "and".)
