Compound Complex Sentences


Compound Sentences with Attitude!
 

 

A compound complex sentence has two complete sentences (independent clauses)and at least one dependent clause. For example:

"While she was correcting papers,"

(a dependent clause, right?)

+

"the teacher was startled by a knock on the door,"

(complete sentence, right?)

+

"and she spilled her coffee all over the papers."

(another complete sentence, right?)

=

"While she was correcting papers, the teacher was startled by a knock on the door, and she spilled coffee all over the papers."
