"Likely as not, the child you can do the least with will do the most to make you proud."

--Mignon McLaughlin (journalist)

Autism is the most common of the Pervasive Developmental Disorders, affecting an estimated 1 in 150 births (Centers for Disease Control Prevention, 2007). Basically this means about 1.5 million Americans today are believed to have some form of autism. And this number appears to be on the rise.

The prevalance of autism has brought with it a plethora of online sites offering information about brain research, possible causes, treatments, teaching strategies, assistive technologies, and so on. However, not all of the information available is entirely accurate, and unfortunately, some of it is very misleading and unreliable.

This site is intended to be a resource for parents, caregivers, and teachers of autistic children, from preschool through elementary school, to assist in "untangling the web" of information available online.
