Unafraid to take risks. 2- Original ideas in most projects, with some risk-taking evident. 3- Some original thought and imagination, but stretches concepts little. 4- Few original or imaginative ideas, with much reference to previous works. QUALITY AND QUANTITY __________________ 1- Professional craftsmanship with excellent numbers or ambitious work. 2- Good craftsmanship with an adequate number or ambitious work. 3- Acceptable craftsmanship and project completion. Fair amount of work. 4- Inferior, half-hearted craftsmanship on projects. Little or no amount of work. WORK ETHIC/ LAB WORK _____________ 1- Works diligently during class and contributes at least four hours weekly to outside work. 2- Works well during class, but fails to consistently contribute four hours weekly outside class. 3- Works at an average pace during class, but rarely spends time in outside work. 4- Does the minimum amount of work to get the projects completed and seldom if ever does outside work. CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE ________________ 1- ery helpful in doing their part to keep the studio clean, even doing more than their fair share. 2- Generally can be counted on to clean their area and help with other studio chores and cleaning. 3- Usually cleans up their own mess, but rarely helps to clean any of the mess left by the group. 4- Often leaves even their own mess and rarely can be counted on to help with general studio chores. PORTFOLIO _______________ 1- Excellent documentation. Impressive record of process with reflection. Considerable quantity. 2- Two of the three previous criteria. 3- One of the three previous criteria. 4- No portfolio or a portfolio of little effort. ATTENDANCE ________________ 1- Three or less unexcused absences, few tardies, stays full class time. 2- Four unexcused absences, is also frequently late and/or leaves class early. 3- Five unexcused absences, is frequently late and/or leaves early. 4- Six or more unexcused absences or excessively late and/or leaves early. Final Grade:___________________ This sample rubric can be adapted to any ceramics project that the students create! |
